September 25
"Guinea Pig"

"Alex Ebert"

These both probably should be oil paintings. And...um...besides needing to do animation I seem to be distracted making things for etsy, which just can't be good. I am severely underpricing things in just the weird possibility that somehow the whole venture takes off and it would be worth it to me to under price stuff, but I feel like it might bite me in the ass later so I really need to watch it. Plus it can never be good when you are making things just to sell them, right? Anyway, I am still experimenting with that whole thing.
And even though the painting a day is on hiatus until October I will just post these guys.
They are teeny tiny.
The guinea pig is 5" x 3" and the Alex Ebert is 5" x 7" inches.

I obviously haven't been posting that much and that has been due to a few reasons I have mentioned (ie. working on my animation) and a few reasons I haven't (a little artists block). It came at a convenient time, the need to finish my animation because a part of me has wondered where am I going with all of this? When am I going to step it up. The painting a day idea sprung forth from this need to just make myself get into the studio, not caring what I made. But recently I started to care and started wondering how I could make things that hew closer to what I am thinking about.
I haven't come up with a magic solution because my time is definitely more constrained right now between teaching, animation and hanging out with my cool kid. But I have decided to reinvest myself in this project starting October 1st. I probably will be making even shorter paintings, if that is possible. Or maybe begin to make a painting a week, but painting every day. It depends on what is going on. And it also depends on if I can swing my head around why I have been so much more attracted to my works on paper, and whether I can transfer that attraction to my paintings.

Sept. 8, "Topo Chicos"

oil on board, 11" x 14".
Well, it looks like I might have to be satisfied with getting one painting done a week. I have really tried to kick my animation in gear so that is what I can do right now. Plus, my teaching has started back up which also puts me in a time crunch. It is kind of rough because I have so many ideas for things I want to do. But that is always the way.
I will have my studio open for the East Austin Studio Tour which I am excited about. So maybe local people will have a chance to stop by and see what I have been working on in person.
I love Topo Chicos.

September 3, "Peach and Lime"

oil on panel, 12" x 12"
I seem to have something going with this fruit thing. I don't know why I like doing them at this time, but I do.
