October 13, "Bok Choy on Red Pattern"
oil on panel, 14" x 18"

I tried a vegetable. And a larger panel. It turned out okay. But again, I could have used another hour or two. I am getting a little skeezed out on the whole pattern/food thing and maybe it is because I used a vegetable. I kind of make fun in my head when painters make a huge deal out of shifting subject matter ever so slightly, but... I feel it a little here. For some reason I just really wanted to paint a green vegetable on this pattern. But it really reminds me of this series of latex masks that I painted a long time ago and that is, I think, why it is making me uncomfortable. Plus, expanding it into vegetables makes me like, a food painter and I am not super comfortable with that either. I think I might retreat to fruit. Or to people?

October 10, "Orange on Wrapping Paper"
oil on panel, 12" x 12"

this one is a little sloppy. It is probably both under painted and over painted. I needed another hour to finish it but...just didn't have it.
